Why We Are Called Ovutor

Our name, Ovutor, comes from the Ikwerre word for Happiness. When literally translated, it means Sweetheart.

We are for the sweethearts, we celebrate the happiness they have found in each other. Everything we do is centred on helping couples create intentional, meaningful celebrations that reflect who they are and the love they share.

Hello, I'm Chichenma Fortune

My name is Chichenma Fortune. I am a Lawyer and Project Manager; and the Lead at Ovutor. I became a Project Manager after 10 years of practising as a Lawyer because I found that conceptualising, meticulously planning and executing/organising events (of any kind) gave me an immense sense of excitement that I did not get from anything else I did. As a Project Manager I focus solely on social projects, (initiatives aimed at doing good: improving lives and communities), and intimate weddings.

Why weddings?
I love love. I love quiet, meaningful celebrations of love and I love weddings. Not the kinds that are ostentatious and chaotic. Not the kinds where the guests are simply a sea of faces and there’s no meaningful connection between them and the couple. Not the inauthentic kind that is all about the pageantry, and the day is marked by a series of rushed, forgettable moments. I love weddings that are thoughtful and grounded – less about the spectacle and more about the two people committing to each other. 

When I got married the world was emerging from pandemic-related restrictions and I had the pleasure of having a very small, warm, and completely personalised ceremony. It was nothing like any wedding I had ever attended and it got me thinking about other couples who might appreciate a personalized wedding experience, as opposed to weddings as usual. 
With Ovutor, I get to combine two things I really love: project management and weddings – using project management skills, expertise and tools to plan the kinds of weddings I love, for couples who are not looking to do the conventional thing. 

I take on every wedding with a sense of gratitude because celebrating someone’s love is one of the most beautiful and intimate experiences I can be invited to help orchestrate and witness.
